In 1955 Haralampi Oroschakoff was born in Czervenkovo (Bulgaria). Oroschakoff, who came from a Russian family, grew up in the Bulgarian city Sofia, but fled with his family to Belgrade in 1963 from where he emigrated to Austria. He went to school in Vienna. In 1979 Oroschakoff began to exhibit photographs and worked with actions and installations. Oroschakoff's predominant artistic subject was the dialogue between eastern (Byzantine-Slavic-oriental) and western (European) culture and art. Haralampi Oroschakoff created the Ikonen-Konzept (icon concept), which played an important role in his works and worked with double cross images. Since 1983, Haralampi G. Oroschakoff has lived and worked as an artist and historian in Munich and Cannes, and since 1997 in Berlin and Théoule sur Mer.
