Mat Collishaw, The Zoetrope: The Garden of Unearthly Delights- @ Belsay Castle, Northumberland   e.g.   Art BarterMay 15 2010

For Extraordinary Measures, Collishaw has created a zoetrope – or spinning wheel – which conjures up a three-dimensional world of imps and butterflies, all dancing before the visitor’s eyes.

Step into the Great Chamber at Belsay Castle and be seduced by his latest interpretation of the moving image. ‘The Garden of Unearthly Delights’ when rotated creates, as if by magic, an animated scene of imps, birds and animals.

When building the zoetrope, Mat was inspired by Victorian fairy paintings.

Polly Morgan's DEPARTURES in the ME Collectors Room / Berlin   e.g.   Art BarterMay 15 2010

From May 2010 onwards, the exhibition space me Collectors Room Berlin, conceived by Thomas Olbricht, will present the Olbricht Collection — one of the most extensive private collections in Europe — in a series of alternating exhibitions. The collection encompasses works from the early 16th century all the way to the most recent contemporary art. The building itself — situated in Auguststrasse at the heart of Berlin, provides a permanent domicile for the collection and in consequence, also scope for other international private collections.
